Pupil premium and recovery premium

Pupil premium is additional funding provided to schools for supporting more disadvantaged pupils in order to ensure they benefit from the same opportunities as all other children. There are three categories of children that qualify for the Pupil Premium: Children who are eligible for free school meals (FSM); Looked after children; Armed Forces children.

At Whitecliffe Academy, the main barriers to educational achievement that may be faced by our eligible pupils are identified below:

  • Confidence
  • Inability to learn within a large group
  • Focus and concentration for extended periods of time
  • Long term and visual memory i.e. for key word development and reading Familiar words within a sentence
  • Regular support from home
  • Attitude to learning – Not applying key skills effectively
  • Key skills in mental maths
  • Key skills in spelling, grammar and punctuation
  • Stability
